Artist of the Day

Not really an artist but an art form - Valentines called Penny Dreadfuls or Vinegar Valentines.  Popular from in the late 1800s into the first half of the 1900s.  These Valentines cost a penny and were generally printed on poor quality paper.  Often they were sent anonymously to point out annoying habits, to inform the recipient they were getting to big for the britches or to bring them down a peg.

I guess "Sugar Daddy" may be my favorite, probably because in my old age it just becomes funnier and funnier to me to see an old man with a young woman whom he thinks really loves him.

Ya, when I was 24 I remember being so attracted to liver spots, to toupees, and to winkled and shriveled bodies in general.
